How to get more UGC inbounds using Twitter
Hi friend.
Today, I'm going to show you how to use Twitter to get inbounds.
As you know... the UGC community is all the rage on Twitter. Scientists have dubbed it the most positive corner on the internet. A fully-fledged dopamine factory.
But there's one drawback...
Most Creators aren’t using it to build a steady flow of inbound leads.
The majority of UGC Creators fall into what we will call, "The Twitter Trap"...
This is what happens:
1. Creator joins Twitter to grow business
2. Creator gets seduced by the positive engagement of the community
3. Creator builds friendships
4. Creator FAILS to get inbounds
If this is you, don’t worry.
We can get you on the right path to inbound heaven.
All you need to do is change your Twitter strategy.
If you do it right, you can keep making friends, adding value to the community AND start building a steady flow of inbounds.
Let's get into it.
Step 1: First, you must understand why you're in the Twitter Trap and how to get out of it
Most creators don't get inbounds because they only tweet to other creators.
Think about it…
Your peers are other UGC creators on Twitter. They’ll engage with your posts and make you feel good.
But they’re not your target market.
Your target market is brand owners.
Brand owners pay your bills.
So to get out of the trap, you must include them in your tweets.
You must educate them.
And you must show them how you can help their business grow.
To get out of the trap, you must approach Twitter like a marketer. Your tweets are pieces of content. And your content offers insight, value, inspiration to your audience.
Step 2: Changing the way you tweet so the rest of us think you’re smart…
Your new tweets should appeal to both creators and brand owners:
Both groups should find your tweets interesting, informative, inspiring, etc.
Here are some tweet examples you can use:
1. "How I got [specific result] creating UGC for [insert client]
- short point 1
- short point 2
- short point 3
[Key Take Away]”
2. "The most valuable #UGC lessons I’ve learned working with [insert number] of clients
- Short lesson 1
- Short lesson 2
- Short lesson 3
Key Take Away Sentence”
3. "Unpopular UGC Opinion:
CTA's are actually more important than Hooks for ad performance!
A thread on how we got [specific results] by focusing on CTAs 🧵⬇️”
I wrote these on the spot so they could use some improvements.
But you can see why both audiences may find them interesting:
Creators want to learn from other creators
Brand owners want to learn new ways to grow their business
When you can master the art of tweeting for your target market…
You’ll get more engagement from peers, meaning more eyeballs on your tweets, more brand owners viewing your profile. And those brand owners will actually find your tweets insightful.
Aim for one high value tweet per day.
You can batch and schedule your tweets with Hypefury.
Now let’s get more brand owners looking at your profile.
Step 3: The strategy to get more brand owners clicking on your profile and contacting you.
Ok. imagine for a second you've started dropping knowledge.
Your tweets are on fire.
The next step is to get more exposure to your profile.
You want brand owners scrolling your profile, licking their greedy lips, thinking that you’re the answer to their capitalist desires — more business growth.
But to do that, you must be the one who initiates the dialogue.
The key is to engage with brand owners.
You do this by replying to their tweets in an authentic and friendly way. You build the relationship without trying to sell them anything.
The easiest way and fastest way to do this is with TweetDeck.
Tweetdeck allows you to seperate people into specific lists.
This means you can seperate the brands you want to work with from the rest of your Twitter Followings.
I’ve screenshot an example below. But if you're not familiar with TweetDeck - Click Here For Tutorial.
Example:
Once you get your Tweetdeck set up, you want to add at least three columns like the example above:
1. Brand Owners
2. Brand Accounts
3. Brand Employees
Check it every day.
Reply. Reply. And reply some more.
After you’ve dropped a few reply-tweets, brands will start looking at your profile.
When they see that your tweets are insightful, they’ll want to connect and learn more.
These relationships always grow organically. They always take time. But you must ALWAYS put in the effort.
The great part about this strategy is that other brands will see your comments.
They’ll also view your profile.
And you’ll get inbounds from brands that you didn’t even target.
This is a great way of getting exposure early in your Twitter journey.
Conclusion and a daily recipe for success…
Tweeting for business growth is a form of copywriting.
Your success is depends on how good you can get at the craft.
My suggestion is to do this daily:
Publish one value tweet
Drop five reply tweets to brand owners (tweetdeck)
That will be 28 value tweets per month. And 140 reply tweets to brands.
That’s a lot of interaction with your target market.
Do this everyday for 90 days.
Don’t worry about followers. Throw your ego out the door. Only focus on showing up every day and improving.
As a marketing guru once told me...
“Today’s inbound efforts don't show profit tomorrow, they show profit next month and the month after.”
